Sorry, its been a while, have had a crazy few weeks.
Everyone keeps harping on about V Festival at the minute and (sorry to be indie) but it’s a commercial load of crap. They must have paid Arctic Monkeys shitloads to let them lower themselves to that. Saying that, I wouldn’t turn down a free ticket. I think the reason im so anal about V Fest is that im such a Leeds festival girl through and through. Crazy excited about the release of the line up on  the 21st of march- ive already bought my ticket anyway, which I do not find risky at all, I have trust in Melvin Benn.
So obviously they are rumours, rumours which make me very very happy if the strokes new single is anything to go by (see video at bottom). Their new album ‘Angles’ is out on the 22/03/11 and their first single ‘Undercover of Darkness’ sounds just like their old toe-tapping, melody-humming, sang-down-a-pipe stuff. Its honestly brilliant and I sooooooooo hope they headline, ‘Angles’ will surely be the album of 2011. Theres also a couple of leaked tracks which ive included for your listening pleasure.
Other pretty solid rumours (found at http://www.leedsfest.org/)

  1. Two Door Cinema Club (pretty much certain)
  2. Crystal Castles
  3. The Streets
  4. Muse
  5. My Chemical Romance (?)
  6. The Strokes (!!!)
i am pretty happy with this so far :)
Anyway, in other non-Leeds related news, I'd like to share this song with you by the bullets, just because its genius :)

Wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces

Went to see Sleigh Bells last week or the week before- see the below post for my review. They were absolutely astounding, one of, if not the best gig ive been to, even though we (my friends and i) missed half the set in our drunken state. Even though we were so late, we still somehow managed to reached the front row where I was probably dancing like an utter maniac. Best bit was when the lead singer (Alexis Krauss) came to the front of the stage, and held my hand and (cringe) sang into my EYES. I can remember screaming “I LOVE YOU!!!!!” at her, most embarrassing thing. Their songs are so electric, id recommend them to anyone. Ive put links to their songs on the review for you guyz.
What made it even better is that me, jess (friend one) and matt (friend two) met actual MAT HORNE! (off Gavin and Stacey- the black haired one).
We started by subtly (really unsubtly) taking stalker pictures and then I went up to him and pretty much drunkenly assaulted him. He was the nicest guy ever though, genuinely and he took lots of pictures with us and was talking to us for a good 20 minutes. Coincidentally, one of the history teacher from our college was also there (cue awkward turtle), and when we told Mat this, he turned around in his merry state and shouted “GAY” 3 times at him. I also did a facebook stauts (I know I am a saddo) saying “STOOD NEXT TO MAT HORNE OMG”, and I showed it to him. He then took my blackberry and started writing on my status. BEST MOMENT OF LIFE. Considered only texting with latex gloves in future in order to keep the Mat Horne finger prints on it but then decided not to let my life reach an all time low.

Music wise, if you haven’t got it, please, please, please purchase Adele’s new album: ‘21’. My dad just bought it and it is the most beautiful, tear-inducing record. ‘Someone Like You’ is my current favourite- listen to her singing on Jools Holland- she sounds just as good live as she does recorded which is pretty rare in the industry now

SLEIGH BELLS REVIEW

Forget dustep, dance punk is truly taking over. Many, many attempts have been made over the past decade, and many being immensely successful, with the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Goldfrappe and Daft Punk. But few have incorporated the spark and the pure energy up-and-coming newish band Sleigh Bells have hurled on us.
Plonk them in Nottinghams cosy Rescue Rooms, add a hot-blooded, raucous crowd and a bit of Jagermeister and bingo! You have created one of the best gigs you will ever attend in your life.
She, Alexis Krauss, is a performer, an entertainer, and a screamer, apparently (Alexis screamed a verse or two of their song instead of singing- very, very interesting). Not to mention Derek Miller who has on hell of a beautiful guitar and certainly knows how to play it. They complement each other tremendously, their chemistry truly lighting up the stage. I sincerely look forward to hearing their future in the industry. Let’s just hope they stay constant.
With their entire set consisting of angry crowd pleasers such as Infinity Guitar and Crown on the Ground, it is difficult not to become utterly infatuated with the two-some from New-York, even a long, long time after theyve vacated the stage. Getting stuck in, Alexis, the lead singer of the band, frequently interacts with the crowd; her holding my hand and (I am embarrassingly proud of this) singing two lines of Rachel into my eyes was an fabulous experience to say the least, leaving me with nothing left but pure adrenaline and the bitter regret that I didnt take a photo.
So, if you like a good, cheap, night out, complete with utter TURN-IT-UP, DANCE-TO-ME music then Sleigh Bells definitely are the ones to look out for. Even if you dont like that kind of music. Trust me.

Rating: 9.75/10 (they didnt come back for an encore, boo.)
If you like: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, early Goldfrappe, 'Hollaback Girl' by Gwen Stefani, M.I.A., anything with a beat really, youll like this.
Ones to look out for: (if not all)          1. Tell Em:
                                                            2. Riot Rhythm:
                                                            3. Infinity Guitars:
                                                            4. Crown on the Ground:
